Manufacturing Workforce Development Expo Added to Champions Award Breakfast Agenda

Workforce News,

The Council of Industry will host the 2022 Manufacturing Champions Breakfast on May 26 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. The Manufacturing Champions Award recognizes those individuals and organizations, who through vision, dedication, hard work and tireless involvement have helped to overcome some of the many obstacles faced by manufacturers in the Hudson Valley community and in so doing they have made it possible for manufacturers and their employees to prosper.

This year, the Council will introduce its very first Workforce Expo at the Manufacturing Champions Breakfast. The expo will showcase people and programs developing and supporting the workforce of the future. “We’ve had great success with the Member Expo at our annual luncheon and wanted to build on that concept at the Champions Breakfast. We think this will be a great way to showcase our terrific workforce partners, who really are doing a lot of great work,” says Johnnieanne Hansen, Vice President of Operations & Workforce Development at The Council.

Exhibitors will include high schools that focus on STEAM and advanced manufacturing, community colleges, Career and Technical schools, as well as nonprofit organizations that help source, train and place individuals in potentially marginalized communities. “We want our members to have the chance to meet people and develop relationships with them,” Hansen says. “The Champions Award recognizes people and organizations that make a difference within our manufacturing community, the expo will be a great way to extend that recognition.”
